Located just west of Dublin, Phoenix Park is the largest park in Dublin and given its size, it wears well see his name very well.

Phoenix Park is the largest public park in Europe, it is also a relaxing place, away from where the only route through and also the only real means of communication between the civilized world of Man and the world of nature where annimaux mingle with groves and shimmering expanses of grass.

For jogging, going to the zoo, which is located at the entrance to the park or even to walk, Phoenix Park is the ideal place.

It hosts a large garden, surrounded by a residential area of Georgian style (with its typical red brick). The area is quite nice, and very popular at Dubliners!

Merrion Square was created in 1762 and finally completed in the early nineteenth century. This square is mostly known for being a gathering place for many great Irish figures as William Butler Yeats, Oscar Wilde, Daniel O’Connell …

To pay tribute to these characters, it was decided to set up such a statue of Oscar Wilde in 1997 in the heart of the square, as well as historical and commemorative plates to better inform visitors of the history of the place .

National Natural History Museum of Ireland

article1

The National Natural History Museum of Ireland was created in 1857 and is located next to Merrion Square. There are two floors opened to the public which contain a lot of stuffed animals.

article5

This museum is interesting if you want to learn more about the Irish fauna and its diversity. The place is quiet even if there are often many people inside. Pictures are not allowed so I had to be discreet to take some for this article, and so you must be if you want to take yours.

article3

The entrance is free so it can be a good cultural entertainment to do during a week end with friends, family or alone. What I suggest you to do on a sunny afternoon is to walk in Merrion Square then visit this National Natural History Museum Of Ireland and finish with the National Gallery Of Ireland which I already told you about in an article and which is not  far at all.

Reminiscent of the funky haunts of Lower Manhattan, The Globe is a stylish modern bar decorated with art works, classical statues and chairs spread around long tables. Be warned to wear your hippest glad rags as strolling through the bar on a weekend night can be the Dublin equivalent of walking a cat walk in a fashion show in Paris or London.

An essential part of a great night’s carousing in Dublin city, The Globe is well worth a look.

The Brazen Head

ImageHere we are for another article. We did together another place, it was the Brazen Head. It is Lower Bridge Street. We went for it, because on the afternoon, we are looking for what to visit in Dublin. Actually, we found the Brazen Head, and we went for it this night. The Brazen Head, which is the oldest pub in Dublin, a historical monument that has existed since 1198. Former post house, the Brazen Head hosts Imagenightly concerts of traditional music. A lot of people and a lot of tourists, a great area to enjoy your night.

Established in 1198. Chock full of history, and a roaring fire for wearing Dublin voyagers. Off the beaten path, right across from the Liffy, and worth a look. Good Baileys coffee, and walls full of celebrity pix, along with fire/ police patches made this place so interesting. Two nights a week you can have more than music… I really enjoyed the evening here. The evening of food folklore and faeries was such a treat, the food was warm and hearty we enjoyed that it was traditional Irish food and tasted great! The entertainment was world class. The stories were exciting and the Imagesinging was very beautiful.

The entrance is an arch with an alley that leads to – hotel straight ahead, pub to right. Up the steps, and the room opens to the right, where we found the fire place going. Friendly service from a lovely lady, what more could I ask?

So to summarize: what do we think about it?

  • Fantastic atmosphere!
  • The pub is also a historical monument
  • Price are accessible

For me, the name « Kingfisher » reminds me an airline company in India, when I saw this; it was strange for me, and I was not thinking it was a restaurant … It is located on Parnell Street, Dublin 1. We went to it, because we didn’t want to cook this evening, because we have a lot of work to do. It was late in the evening; almost all the restaurants were closed. The weather was actually terrible, a typical Irish weather, a lot of wind, rain… Finally, we found for a restaurant called The Kingfisher Restaurant, which closes late, and also, it is just at 200 meters from the house.
